Total measured advertising expenditures in the US during the first six months of 2008 declined by 1.6% compared to the same period in 2007, while spendings for online advertising raised 8% in the same timeframe. Main loosers by category are newspapers and radio advertising. Anyway, the top 10 advertisers spend about 6% less over all, remaining $7.7 billion.

The banking debacle and the general decrease in economic growth are assumed as main reasons.
