Having direct advertisers is a very lucrative way of monetizing your blog. Ads are one of the few ways in which a blogger can capitalize on existing blog traffic without any additional work. First step for a blogger to attract sponsors to his blog is to create an online blog media kit.

Total measured advertising expenditures in the US during the first six months of 2008 declined by 1.6% compared to the same period in 2007, while spendings for online advertising raised 8% in the same timeframe. Main loosers by category are newspapers and radio advertising. Anyway, the top 10 advertisers spend about 6% less over all, remaining $7.7 billion.
The banking debacle and the general decrease in economic growth are assumed as main reasons.
